Ottamissiah (Missy) Moore

Ottamissiah (Missy) Moore is Registered Nurse and a resident of Washington D.C. Her wealth of experience and knowledge in nursing spans over 37 years. Missy has extensive experience in Long Term Care Support and services, Hospice and networking.  Her plan is to share her nursing experience with health care providers before she retires.  She provides consulting services for conference planning and trainings to include leadership, hospice and wound care

Missy’s dynamic contributions to the nursing field are remarkable. She travels extensively throughout the United States training nurses. Missy collaborates with national organizations such as the National Alliance for Wound Care and Ostomy and currently serves as the board president. Missy also collaborates with VITAS Innovative Hospice Care and the National Black Nurses Association to provide educational seminars and trainings on nursing topics such as mental health first aid, wound care, hospice, care of the aging, IV therapy and scope and regulation of practical nursing. Dedicated to growing professional and competent nurses, Missy hosts continuing education workshops and meetings for nurses throughout the year.

Missy serves on numerous national boards and is a member of dozens of professional organizations. She is past president of the National Federation of Licensed Practical Nurses, 2008-2012. She has also served as a board member for the District of Columbia State Board of Nursing since 2005. In 2011, she was a member on the PN NCLEX Item Selection Committee of the National Council of State Boards of Nursing. She was appointed to the LPN Standards Committee of the Commission of Graduates of Foreign Nursing Schools and to the National League for Nursing Licensed Practical Nurse Ad Hoc Committee. Missy is a Lifetime Member of the National Black Nurses Association, where she also actively serves on numerous committees.

Ms. Moore has been honored with numerous national awards for her contributions to the nursing field, to include the 2014 Hospice LPN of the Year from Hospice and Palliative Nurses Association, the 2012 Community Nurse of the Year from the National Black Nurses Association, as well as the 2012 Lillian Küster Award from the National Federation of Licensed Practical Nurses.
