The Am ericans with Disabilities Act affects almost every aspect of American Life, transforming how we do business, interact with each other and care for tho se in need of our services. It has opened up our health care system, moving persons from institutions into community life and increased the need for h ome and community-based services. Hear from John Wodatch, disability rights attorney and author of the ADA, as he shares how the law has been implemen ted since its enactment 30 years ago and what changes it promises for the f uture.

John Wodatch is a disability rights attorney, with ove r 50 years specializing in the Americans with Disabilities Act and the UN C onvention on the Rights of Persons with Disabilities. He served for 42 yea rs in the Federal government, where he authored the government’s comprehens ive disability rights regulations and created and led the Department of Jus tice’s office in charge of enforcing the ADA.
He is one of the draft ers of the Americans with Disabilities Act., serving as a member of the Whi te House negotiating team and as the Department of Justice’s chief technica l expert during the writing and passage of the ADA. He was also part of th e U.S. delegation to the United Nations that helped develop the Convention on the Rights of Persons with Disabilities.
