Over 34 years ago, Gary began his hospice career as a volunteer. Since then he has worked in m any capacities leading a variety of teams and departments including volunte ers, social workers, bereavement, and education.
Gary holds Masters Degrees in both Education and Social W ork and is a Licensed Clinical Social Worker. He also holds the new Advance d Palliative Hospice Social Worker Certification (APHSW-C). Gary received t he National Hospice and Palliative Care Organization’s (NHPCO) Heart of Hos pice Award for developing innovative programs to meet the needs of caregive rs and the bereaved and is the recipient of the national social work organi zation Social Work Hospice and Palliative Network (SWHPN) Award of Excellen ce in Professional Education.
G ary is a frequent presenter and keynote speaker at state and national confe rences and works as a consultant for various businesses and healthcare orga nizations. He is currently the Executive Director of the Advanced Palliativ e Hospice Social Work certification organization.
