Controlling medication costs is always a concern for hospices, particularly if a patient gets admitted to hospice with expensive medications and hospice providers want to switch these high-cost medications to cost-effective alternatives without compromising care.   This webinar will focus on commonly prescribed high-cost medications and their potential cost-effective alternatives for the following medication categories: cognitive enhancing agents for dementia, anticoagulants, pain medications, inhaled medications, Entresto and others. We will discuss when to deprescribe or switch to a cost-effective alternative.

Webinar Objectives:
  • Identify when a medication should be deprescribed
  • List the cost-effective alternatives for medications in the following categories: anticoagulants, pain medications, inhaled medications, Entresto and others
  • Determine if the cost-effective alternative is appropriate for a patient and how to switch to the cost-effective alternative
